Ham

Ingredients

Béchamel Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
2 cups milk
salt and pepper
a dash of ground nutmeg

Croque Monsieur Muffins:
4 Thomas’® Original English Muffins, split
4 slices deli-ham

Dijon Mustard
Béchamel sauce

Directions

Turn broiler to high. Melt butter in a medium skillet. Whisk in flour. Add salt and pepper. Continue to whisk while cooking over medium-low heat until mixture smells nutty. Whisk in milk and turn heat to high. Continue to whisk until sauce thickens and is bubbly. Turn heat to simmer and cook for a few minutes until sauce has thickened. Add nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste. Assemble sandwiches by splitting the Thomas’ English Muffins and spreading Dijon evenly on each side. Add a slice of ham and about 2 tablespoons of grated cheese. Add top half of English muffin. Spoon Béchamel sauce on top of the sandwich then add remaining cheese. Place sandwiches under the broiler until cheese has melted and lightly browned. Serve immediately or add a fried egg on top to make Croque Madame Muffins.
